Our History

Nearly 100 years ago, the original firm was founded by Mr W. R. Scott, who practised on his own account for some time, until he formed a partnership with his brother, Mr R. G. Scott.  Thereafter, the firm was known as W. R. Scott & Scott.

While Dillons Solicitors commenced practice under that name in 1989, our Principal, Bill Dillon, began his career in 1968, as an articled law clerk, articled to the late Mr Richard James Vincent (Jim) Dickson, the senior partner of W. R. Scott & Scott.

Jim Dickson was articled to Mr W. R. Scott and practiced in the firm of W. R. Scott & Scott for many years.

Bill Dillon qualified as a Solicitor in 1971 and became a partner in the firm of W. R. Scott & Scott in 1973 with Jim Dickson, Barry McKay and Jim Dickson's son, Mr Ross Dickson, who is now a barrister practising in Brisbane.

In 1989, due to a partnership restructuring, Bill Dillon's practice became known as Dillons Solicitors and he has practised law in Brisbane under the name of Dillons Solicitors until the present time.

The firm now practices from its own premises at Level 6, 160 Edward Street, Brisbane.
